Company: A rapidly growing and well-known health/wellness well-funded 8 years young startup in Manhattan with new businesses launching is searching for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Position Overview: Lead the f&a functions, lead a team of 11, and position the company for quick and accelerated growth.  Fund raising and strategic finance is involved.  This is not strictly a finance & accounting position.  There is fund raising and strategic finance involved and the CFO will be a key decision maker and thought leader alongside CEO and Board of Directors.  The CFO will be highly visible and autonomous.  He/she will be expected to drive strategic initiatives as the business scales.  Must be a solutions-oriented CFO with entrepreneurial spirit and DNA.

Interacts with: CEO, COO, Board of Directors, Vendors, Customers, Internal teams

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Financial planning, accounting, budgeting & forecasting
  • Oversight of General Counsel function
  • Manage financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting functions
  • Lead and develop the finance and accounting teams
  • Direct all aspects of accounting and finance operations, maintaining accounting policies, processes and systems and ensuring internal controls are properly designed and operating effectively
  • Advise management, CEO and the Board on the liquidity implications of its short and long range strategic planning decisions
  • Oversee insurance broker and carrier relationships manage insurance portfolio by collaborating, designing, developing, evaluation programs, suggesting changes as needed
  • Lead integration of risk management policies, procedures and processes and advocate organization-wide efforts to protect key assets
  • Spearhead strategic operational and financial plans
  • Implement and measure success of financial plans
  • Lead and direct the financial analysis, commentary, and presentation materials for the CEO and Board of Directors
  • Generate outcome-focused financial models that support a wide-range of strategic initiatives
  • Create a performance culture through continuous improvements in financial performance and
  • Provide monthly financial reporting on operations and key business initiatives
  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs and available funds for investment while ensuring that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  • Direct the development, implementation and evolution of a forecasting system to accurately predict the timing of cash requirements over appropriate time horizons while maintaining effective cash system control and procedures
  • Partner with each operating lead to identify and establish processes to track and provide proactive and insightful reporting on the key performance indicators most impactful in driving the business
  • Partner closely COO to support business analytics to drive revenue growth
  • Work cross-functionally on several strategic initiatives, including but not limited to pricing, customer acquisition, partnerships, competitive analysis, and product strategy
  • Manage vendor relationships, including the negotiation and execution of contracts
  • Ensure oversight of compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations

Primary Qualifications Required:

  • Between 14 and 21 years of finance experience
  • Work experience in either:
  • Investment Banking;
  • Big 4 public accounting;
  • Early-stage growth company;
  • Management Consulting

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Must be in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study
  • MBA highly preferred
  • CPA highly preferred

Technical Requirements:

  • Advanced Excel user
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Quantitative skills
