FUNCTION: 

The Vice President of Operations is to act as an in-house expert with regard to trust taxation and accounting issues, reviewing trust and other documents prepared by the client’s counsel as well as tax returns prepared by outside tax professionals, overseeing all in-house trust tax return preparation, conduct on-going tax research on behalf of the Company and its trust clients, advise staff on tax and accounting matters and supervise the Trust Accountants and Trust Tax personnel in the on-going tax and accounting work for all trust accounts.

It is the responsibility of the Operations Department, to assure that the company’s fiduciary responsibilities are properly discharged as they relate to all areas of trust taxation and accounting, clients are served expeditiously and professionally and that the company’s business is conducted in such a way as to both accomplish our client’s goals without creating undue risk . It is necessary to combine exemplary client service with diligent risk management.

Work closely with President and CEO. Must excel at developing good working relationships with professionals, clients and colleagues.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum would be an undergraduate degree in accounting, taxation or other related field of study, CPA, JD and/or MST/LLM in Taxation required.

Current licensure from the CPA Board of any state.

Minimum of seven to ten years’ experience in a financial organization or trust company managing tax, accounting and operations functions; Trust, tax and portfolio accounting expertise required

Should have familiarity with sophisticated estate planning techniques and transactional skills.

Must be detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills.

Working knowledge of ProSystem fx software a plus.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Management 

·       Effectively supervises, in conjunction with the Trust Operations Manager, staff of 4-6 employees with varying levels of experience and responsibility (including an Assistant and Intern)

·       Experience motivating, leading, coaching and developing staff

·       Demonstrated ability and desire to share knowledge in the form of training to lower level staff

·       Participates in job performance evaluation of staff and responsible for continued development of these employees

·       Assist with hiring, promoting, transfer, terminations, and other changes to the status of staff

·       Providing appropriate and timely performance feedback to those supervised

·       Leading as a professional role model to new and experienced professional staff

·       Oversee teams that manage all trust lifecycle event processing on a timely basis; establishes productivity and performance standards

·       Continually look for ways to streamline daily processing, suggest operational enhancements and execute efficiencies

·       Participation in billing matters, to include determination of fees for time spent on tax preparation and/or review for trust accounts
